Hello Olli,
is it possible to “backlist” certain Mails? My Problem is that our Mailserver is now on a Blacklist because someone used a [email protected] Mail adress … and this happened the second time and now I need a way to block these Mail adresse(s).
Don’t ask me why someone is doing this …. too many idiots out there and I need a way to handle this. My ISP also contacted me and sais I should block the adress 🙁
Thanks for your help!!!!
8 August, 2017 at 12:34 am #29679surely , that should be blocked at server level …
not sure why this would be a wppizza issue (or how wppizza should/could solve this )but feel free to expand as to what you would want wppizza to do
8 August, 2017 at 12:49 am #29680i don’t know the full story of course but it sounds to me like your server people need to do their homework (ptr , dmarc, whatnot records)
cant see why this should be your issue (and most certainly not wppizza’s issue)8 August, 2017 at 1:25 pm #29686Hello Olli,
after some talks with my isp and a lawyer i am totally frustrated now: Here in Germany we MUST use a double opt in procedure when people register for an account.
So for me that means:
1. no more guest accounts – but thats ok
2. I need that procedure on my website and as far as I know wp pizza does not support it.Right?
It means that people register for an account and are getting an Email where they confirm that they really created that account. and after that they can make a order.
Damn i am really frustrated now because I don’t see a solution for this – maybe you can help me with this in any way. or implement this procedure in the new 3.0 version … or anything …. 🙁
Thanks a lot for any help!
Thomas8 August, 2017 at 1:34 pm #29687Omg I just saw the Verion 3 is ylready out … i will have a look at this one and maybe if you have any idea too i am glad to hear from you
8 August, 2017 at 1:51 pm #29688wppizza simply uses the way wordpress does registrations (i.e people select “register” and they get an email where they have to set their password)
perhaps there is a way one can make this an option to double opt in – i’ll have a think but i can assure you it’s not imminent
i am of course not a lawyer, but i am not sure whether you actually need double opt in here anyway as you are not subscribing to any newsletter but simply add your email to an order you make …apart form that here’s an
— abbreviated quote from one of the wordpress core developers ——
Many regulatory issues are left up to 3rd parties simply because they’re not used by everyone and the regulations are vastly different in different places.
……
It’s also the same reason that the eu cookie law isn’t directly handled by core and remains a hook able feature.
——— end quote ——-furthermore, why does it mean “no guest checkout” ?
pizza.de (for example) does not seem to have any issue with me just typing in my email address when ordering
should it not in fact be ONLY guest check-out ?
8 August, 2017 at 2:15 pm #29689Hello Olly and thanks for your help and thoughts.
the first thing i tried was to install aplugin called Ban Hammer (wordpress.org/plugins/ban-hammer/) but it doesn’t work – i still could use an mail i tried to blacklist.
then i thought: Ok IF i MUST use double opt in i will disable all guest checkouts – so that users MUST use a valid mail to get their password. that was the clostest thing for me to assure no fake emails are used. thats why i thought about disableing the guest account.
Maybe it would be helpful if the wp pizza system can provide some sort of blacklist mail thing – because third party plugins don’t seem to work for what i tried – so in that way when you notice that there is a fake mail use you can start blocking this mail in the system.
8 August, 2017 at 2:27 pm #29690first of all, why do you need users to be registered anyway ? (if that’s what you want , then that’s your prerogative of course, but this will not be native to wppizza – as i already alluded to at length elsewhere on this forum)
secondly, having had a quick look on some german law sites, double-opt in ONLY seem to be required for newsletter subscriptionsthis is not what wppizza does so can’t see the issue in the first place on that front
