Hi,
I was adding a menu item and decided to add a category via the menu item page. Then I went back to the WPPizza category section and saw that the category I added via the menu item page was not there. I tried to add it again but it said that the category already exists.
I did see in this post that someone had a similar issue a while back.

yes, you are correct, this issue has happened before (though not really in the link you referenced, but that’s not important)
and as yet , I was never able to reproduce this , which is why you can find a “Repair Categories” option in “Wppizza -> Tools”(you can typically also fix this by simply adding one or two dummy categories in WPPizza->Categories, deleting them again and reloading that page).
That’s just for your info though…That said, your post is the first time someone actually spelt out what exactly he/she did to make this reproducable – i.e adding a category from *within the menu item / post page* as opposed to in the categories page itself – which I assume is where all those same problems in the past from other people came from too, so this clearly needs fixing my end in an update to the plugin.
At least I finally know where to look, so thank you for being that specific
In the meantime, the workaround outlined above should also let you fix this for the time being
