To avoid missing notifications on restaurant end(If the setup use pc and order history page for notifications) & increase customer interaction, a thank you page extension will be usefull.
The extension will do: while customer on thank you page, a message appear e.g. “we are alerting restaurant member of staff on your order” then as soon as order status change e.g. “ACKNOWLEDGEMENT” selected, another message appear “your order been accepted, an extra 10 minutes required for this delivery” something like that.
3rd party gprs printer(listed on extension page) has this feature which work with wppizza, in fact we request them to add this feature for our past project.1 September, 2017 at 1:17 am #30408the thank you page (in fact all pages) are filterable to your hearts content
so with using the filter here
http://docs.wp-pizza.com/developers/?section=wppizza-markup-pages-page-thankyou-phpand some added ajax/js this is probably doable
suffice to say , i do not think this is something i will be adding/addressing anytime soon as its really not something that seems to be an issue to most users
1 September, 2017 at 2:39 am #30409thanks for reply. Yes, this might be not useful for some user.
In my case, I setup 10 individul client sites with wppizza so far. All but 1 has pc+Thermal printer setup. The most annoying complain I got from client is,they missed notifications on time due to internet off/Order history page logged out/notifications accidentally muted/IP get blocked by imap failure/worse one: “we forgot to turn on the pc on time” and so on. In all case the customer ring the restaurant and ask where’s their order!
My idea came on that extension as, in case of un-mindful client missed notifications on time,at least from thank you page interaction, the customer going to call/alert the restaurant before it’s too late.3 September, 2017 at 1:29 am #30447>In all case the customer ring the restaurant and ask where’s their order!
i don’t think anyone can account for restaurant owners not checking their orders
they could have mobile phones with email clients that notify them or indeed cloudprint that prints out orders when they come in automatically. alas if they don’t check this there isn’t really much one can do , don’t you think ?>at least from thank you page interaction, the customer going to call/alert the restaurant before it’s too late.
i don’t think it’s up to the customer to make sure orders have been noted by th erestaurant. in any case you cannot guarantee that the customer does not just close the browser anywayagain, you could use some filters to add stuff like that , but it will still need the restaurant to actually check things. the onus should be on the provider to make sure things get delivered, not the customer. (that’s the way i see things anyway)
