I have dragged and dropped my categories, but they have not changed on the front end? What can be the problem. They look in the right position in categories in the admin. Thanks for you help.
21 January, 2015 at 1:27 pm #7258hi have the same problen (i think)
I changed the category names (chinese takaway) in WP Pizza (and added a few new ones) but on the left hand side menu at the front end they still display as those original ones Pizza deserts etc… can you please let me know how to update the pages names in WP or shell I do it manually and add missing pages to reflect the WPpizza categories
21 January, 2015 at 1:39 pm #7260hmm, replying to a 2 year old topic …
in any case, chances are you are using pages to display the categories (i.e install option one)
https://www.wp-pizza.com/topic/things-to-do-on-first-install/
so the page names will be the page names and the categories therein will be the category you have (still perhaps) set in the shortcode used on the page
so , yes, if the page is supposed to have a different name, you have to set it as that name and if you want the pages to be in a different order, set the order of the pages…
21 January, 2015 at 2:54 pm #7261thanks for your quick reply,
I managed to solve this myself, I simply removed the WPpizza widget from while customizing left side bar, then put it back on and looks ok, now. Well almost, but good enough.however now I have realised there is another issue,
my menu contsists of 19 WPPizza categories, I understand that only those categories with products are displayed at the front end,
I added a couple of test products to those category #13 and 15but…
in the back end in WP Pizza categories tab I can only see 8 categories although in the bottom it says 19 itemsquestion: how to edit order of all categories when some of them are not accesable,
or is there a way to display all categories in backend? image
https://www.dropbox.com/s/jyzpbqnpi7gfgoj/categories.jpg?dl=021 January, 2015 at 3:08 pm #7262assuming you are using pages (install 1 ) AND the navigation widget : you should not do that without creating the right template
please see herehttps://www.wp-pizza.com/topic/navigation-widget/
regarding catregories
please go to wppizza->tools, enable “repair categories” and save. (let me know if your categories are all accessible again after you’ve done that )
21 January, 2015 at 4:01 pm #7263HI Olly,
thank you for such prompt reply,
unfortunately the repair categories did/did not work only somewhat, can edit and see 9 rather then 8 so one more then previously.21 January, 2015 at 4:09 pm #7264can i have admin access to your site to have a look please (use the “set as private reply option” below
21 January, 2015 at 4:10 pm #7265PS: if you have 9 categories it will – of course – show 9 categories….
21 January, 2015 at 4:11 pm #7266sorry , scrap that PS. i guess the issue is that you have 19 . need to have a look at the admin
21 January, 2015 at 4:13 pm #7267ok,
found the possible reason:apart from the longest named category that can be visible without any products included ( with 0 products) you can only see those categories that are not empty,
obviously you need to go to tools and repair them first,
so althougn not perfect it does the job, so Im happy,
BTW I cannot understand why “Vegetable and Bean Curd Dishes” category as per image above as the only one, can be displayed without any products in,
but its not a problem that I cannot live with 😉
thanks a lot, and hope this post will help others in future.
21 January, 2015 at 4:22 pm #7268if it works, i’m not complaining ( though this doesn’t make much sense to me).
you ARE (under screen options) displaying more than just a few categories , right ?
(or if not , do you have pagination there now ?)just trying to find out how this could even be the case as it’s – mainly – wp’s inbuilt category stuff
did you – by any chance – install the plugin 2x for some reason ?
21 January, 2015 at 5:24 pm #7269This reply has been marked as private.21 January, 2015 at 5:47 pm #7271thanks for the access.
having had a look, i have no idea why it does not show all the categories.
even stranger: they DO show up in all your itemsi know – roughly – what this probably *relates* to (hence the repair categories thing) but as yet i have still no idea as to what people *do exactly* to manage to get it to be like that.
this has happened about 2 or 3 times as far as i know , and i just cannot reproduce it….i’ll keep trying (as it would certainly be helpful to have those visible, as you wont be able to sort them if they are not)
thanks for letting me know though
PS: i got them back by dragging and dropping the sort order a few times …so at least they are there for you now (though i might have messed up your order, sorry)
still no idea as to how it came to this, but at least there’s some sort of remedy it seems
PPS: for my own reference, every time i drag and drop the order of a category, and then reload, ONE more category comes back…..how strange is that
21 January, 2015 at 5:57 pm #7272chears, glst to be of assistance, at least there is a way,
I just installed t today so did not have much time to mass around 😉On the other note, are you planning to install CSV import export addon,
with 300 products to upload i drag to think what is ahead of me? having in mind there is no import option as yet. or is there? WP import tool generates only xml files.21 January, 2015 at 6:29 pm #7273somewhere along the lines you have to type stuff in anyway
having said that, i have been thinking a few times about some import thing , but given the way things are linked together with meal sizes, additives, alternative taxrates, and if they have the add ingredients extension there is A LOT more to be considered, and whatnot they invariably will screw things up in their csv and then ask me to sort it out.
so, for the moment at least , there isn’t sorry (though you could probably at least import some simple csv to get titles and content – i.e standard WP stuff – and after that just click on the relevant boxes in each item)
21 January, 2015 at 7:02 pm #7278ok thanks for letting me know,
I think that simple separate imports in each tab would be ideal, so separate for categories then another one in products etc, that way it would be extremely user friendly, and obviously time saving exercise.
An Export button would give you a template and once filled import same file with one ckick.if you had an addon for each tab, I would deffenetly buy all relevant ones for me,
Like one you did with postcodes… defo for me, once everything else is set up.
Anyway, thanks you for your help!
21 January, 2015 at 7:13 pm #7279categories and product import/export functions already exist of course, as they are bog standard WP categories and (custom) posts .
no need for me to re-invent the wheel on those i would have thought
21 January, 2015 at 7:15 pm #7280but i know of course, that that only deals with the commonly shared things between custom post types and wordpress posts – i.e not meal sizes for example – in which case a simple dropdown select and save on each item would do it though)
21 January, 2015 at 8:21 pm #7281ok, thanks for your help. I have to look into it closer,
