I love what you’re doing, and I feel as though I’m pushing the limits of it beyond your intention, so I’ll keep my requests at a minimum, at least until I have a better grasp of what exactly I’m doing with it. (I would love some feedback on what I’m doing with it, by the way) I can’t seem to get the ingredients pulled off of the main item page into a popup, and that is certainly going to be a necessity for the direction I’m trying to go. I’ve been through the toppings and custom groups FAQ a few times but to no avail. Is there any documentation on exactly how those get pulled from the main page into the popup? I feel like this might be something I’m missing out of my own blatant ignorance. I’ve taken the problematic page down, but can certainly put together a diagram of what I’m trying to achieve if you have time. Thanks, either way.
12 January, 2014 at 1:51 pm #3788Hi
I can’t seem to get the ingredients pulled off of the main item page into a popup…
might be stating the obvious here, but did you go to wppizza->ingredients->options->Show Ingrediens in a popup ?
i know there’s a typo in “Ingrediens” – will be sorted in the next update
also, i know there is an issue with this popup when used on mobile/small devices I am addressing at the momentI would love some feedback on what I’m doing with it, by the way
I don’t think you’ll get any feedback as long as you don’t know yourself what you are doing with it and certainly not if you are not telling us what it is you’re doing 🙂
12 January, 2014 at 1:53 pm #3789mind you, which version if the add ingredients extension do you have . if it’s an old one, send me an email with your original purchase id and i send you the new version.
I believe (not 100% sure anymore though) the popup option was added in v 3.213 January, 2014 at 12:20 am #3790RyanHey, thanks for the response –
Hah, good point. I’m trying to set up a Multi-Restaurant Delivery Service – http://www.midlothiandelivered.com – but I haven’t even considered doing it with a multi-site setup, so I was referring to pros/cons on MRDS on a single site.
WPPizza – vers. 2.8.5.2
WPPIngredients – vers. 4.1.1I have the popups enabled, but it simply lists the ingredients as different price points on the item page.
I’ll give disabling the popup option a try tonight, as I’d even be happy with the ‘Make your own pizza’ example on http://www.wp-pizza.com/twentytwelve/, and eventually I’d like to make this site mobile-friendly so I’d probably be better off avoiding the popups altogether. My next restaurant menu works this way:
Items on page: burrito, burrito bowl, crispy taco, soft corn taco, soft flour taco, salad (free)
A)ONLY 1: no rice, white rice, brown rice (free)
B)ONLY 1: no rice, black beans, pinto beans (free)
C)ONLY 1: Fajita Vegetables, None (free)
D)ONLY one: chicken($6.25), carnitas($6.65), steak($6.65), barbacao($6.65), softritas(6.25), veggie($6.25)
E)Any combination: mild, medium, medium hot, hot (free)
F)0,1, or both: sour cream, cheese (free)
G)Yes/No: Guacamole (+$1.80 unless they chose veggie in E^)
H)Yes/No: Lettuce (free)So that’s almost 200,000 possible combinations in 8 different custom groups applied to 4 different items on one page, or am I over-thinking it?
Also, if you visit my site on a pc, the ‘Order Online’ drop-down menu displays just right. However, if you visit it via mobile device, the menu suddenly contains all of the subpages as well making it very difficult to scroll through the available restaurants. Is there an option to change that?
13 January, 2014 at 1:34 am #3791a few things:
unless all of your restaurants have exactly the same menu you will HAVE TO use a multisite setup. (or of course different sites altogether) – at least I cannot see any other way of doing this. if you can think of a way , please do share
I have the popups enabled, but it simply lists the ingredients as different price points on the item page
well, yeah that’s the idea (what else were you expecting ?). if you want some other options (like choose one of mild, medium, hot, blow your head off or whatever else ) you will need to set up custom ingredients groups (that’s what they are there for)
and eventually I’d like to make this site mobile-friendly so I’d probably be better off avoiding the popups altogether
if you want the site mobile friendly you’ll need a mobile friendly theme , nothing to do with wppizza and/or add ingredients (again though, as mentioned above , i know that when using add ingredients as a popup there’s an issue on mobile sites I’m working on to sort out)
Also, if you visit my site on a pc, ….etc
again, that’s a theme issue and has nothing to do with me (personally i find the twentyfourteen theme ghastly anyway, but that’s just me i guess)
13 January, 2014 at 1:40 am #3792RyanAgain, I apologize for my ignorance. I’m new to wordpress and only came to find out about it when I found your plug-in… I fell in love, so now I’m dabbling. I’ll dig elsewhere to learn about the theme implementation, but are you saying that the way I have it currently set up as ‘multi-page’ but ‘single-site’ will pose problems? Or am I just confusing my terminology? I’m three days invested into this setup, so if you foresee issues that I dont, please advise before I waste any more doing it in an inefficient way.
Thanks so much!
13 January, 2014 at 1:58 am #3793Again, I apologize for my ignorance.
don’t worry.
from what i can see , you want to have different restaurants under one roof so to speak.
however, I assume each restaurant will have a different menu (at least, never mind opening times etc)so the only way this will work is a multisite setup.
as an example, consider all the different demos here (http://www.wp-pizza.com/origami/ , http://www.wp-pizza.com/twentytwelve/ etc ) as your individual restaurants where you can have different themes (or of course the same for all), different menus, different opening times etc
whats going on here is a multisite setup where every demo has its own site within the multisite setup that can be administered individually after a common login….
in short : a single site with different restaurants will just not work
13 January, 2014 at 2:07 am #3794a hint: if you want themes that work on mobiles, search for “responsive” themes when you are looking for wordpress themes
13 January, 2014 at 2:15 am #3795RyanYou just answered almost all of my questions.
The way it’s set up now is considered ‘multi-site,’ and I see what you’re saying now.
Also, when I switched to the twentytwelve theme, everything fell into place. Amazing.
I was using the twentyfourteen, and the shopping cart was hindering the menus, etc.
As far as the custom groups – they didn’t expand in the twentyfourteen theme, they just added to the original list, again, in twentytwelve, looks great. My last question for the night –
I need to limit delivery to 5 zip codes, but I’m not charging any more or less per area. I charge $5 a stop – So here’s the typical scenario:
You want a (frosty from Wendy’s,) and a (large fry from Hardee’s,) (delivered to your house,) = $15.
Any advice?13 January, 2014 at 2:16 am #3796RyanI’m expecting to need the zip code plugin to limit the delivery area, but not sure what to do about configuring the delivery price point.
13 January, 2014 at 2:32 am #3797The way it’s set up now is considered ‘multi-site,’
what are you referring to ? wp-pizza.com or your site ? (either way, to set up a multisite : http://codex.wordpress.org/Create_A_Network )
whatever theme you use you will (most probably) have to adjust/tweak the css of wppizza (or any extensions thereof) to work with your particular theme (there are 1000’s after all and all are different)
see http://wordpress.org/plugins/wppizza/faq/ -> can i edit the cssMy last question for the night – I need to limit delivery to 5 zip codes,
and
I’m expecting to need the zip code plugin …
not sure i understand entirely / it depends
every restaurant (i.e site in a multisite setup) can have their own delivery prices set. if delivery prices per restaurant differ depending on postcode, then – yes – you/they need the zip/postcode extension.
if you want – on your main site (so to speak) – something where people type/select their postcode and then get a choice of restaurant that deliver to this postcode, then the post/zipcode extension doesnt do that …..
