Messages:
Apologies. There was an error receiving your order. Please try again.wp_mail: Could not instantiate mail function.
I installed Wordfence for security: I am able to send an email from there, which should mean my server is OK and email works with my site.
I then disabled all plugins but wppizza.
Error still occurs.
Changed various email addresses on Order settings with no joy.
I have a guru who took me thru these steps and he concludes the problem must relate to wppizza.
Maybe I have settings wrong? Tried everything I can think of.
Ron7 March, 2016 at 1:22 pm #16426first question :
when you said “I then disabled all plugins but wppizza.” did you also disable wordfence i.e disabled literally ALL other plugins ?7 March, 2016 at 1:26 pm #16427Yes: disabled wordfence and Ingredients add-on also.
7 March, 2016 at 1:31 pm #16428also, did you set an appropriate “from” email address ?
does that error say just “Could not instantiate mail function” or is there more info after that ?“Could not instantiate mail function” could have many many reasons.
although from a different plugin, perhaps the following checklist is worth reading through too
https://support.mailpoet.com/knowledgebase/could-not-instantiate-mail-function/(or here of course
https://www.google.co.uk/?gws_rd=ssl#q=wordpress+could+not+instantiate+mail+function )being able to send a test mail from wordfence doesnyt really mean anything
7 March, 2016 at 1:32 pm #16429you could also – temporarily perhaps – set the mail delivery to “HTML” as that *might* give you more info on what the problem is
7 March, 2016 at 1:39 pm #16430No joy…but message changed
“phpmailer: Could not instantiate mail function.”7 March, 2016 at 1:47 pm #16431did you turn on debug like so ?
https://www.wp-pizza.com/topic/how-to-enable-debug-in-wordpress/7 March, 2016 at 1:51 pm #16432When set to HTML I did get the following message:

This was followed by the Order form, so it did get sent.
There is more to the message, including HTML…do you want the whole thinmg? I have it as .pdf7 March, 2016 at 1:56 pm #16433>do you want the whole thinmg?
noall the info you need is in that message you’ve received.
“For more information, please see….”7 March, 2016 at 2:00 pm #16434I just turned debug on and ran test.
Error log is empty: where is debug data?7 March, 2016 at 2:01 pm #16435>where is debug data
if there are no errors , there is no debug data…7 March, 2016 at 2:02 pm #16436and as the message gets send, there are no errors. what your email server/host considers spam is something you have to take up with them
7 March, 2016 at 2:06 pm #16437I looked at the Spam notice: nothing seems to fit.
Sent message to Inmotion support.8 March, 2016 at 10:55 am #16454I got same errors since update to the newest version…
8 March, 2016 at 10:56 am #164568 March, 2016 at 12:29 pm #16457I sent my message to my host’s support, and they whitelisted my domain on the outbound spam filter. I never did figure out why the email was treated as spam.
Works now.
Ron8 March, 2016 at 12:47 pm #16458sounds like the domain was blocked / blacklisted though, not the email as such
