Hey Olly,
So I have WPPizza set up on a site and things seem to be working well, but for some reason new orders are taking forever to show up on the Order History page, and when they eventually do show up, they come in as a group of order at one time. I have the ‘poll for new orders” option set to 30 seconds, but it’s taking more like 45 minutes for orders to show up in Order History, which makes the process of fulfilling these orders difficult, since staff uses the Order History page to fulfill these orders. Any ideas as to why the orders on the Order History page are taking so long to update?
Thanks,
Manny
15 April, 2016 at 11:18 am #17395as i know nothing about your site , i can only comment generally.
the order history just checks for completed orders in the db every x(polling) seconds
if the orders are not (marked as) completed this generally means your payment processor takes too long to process the payment (like 15 minutes in your case) and send a response back to your site that marks the payment as being successfully completedI agree that this is not acceptable, but that’s for the payment processor to sort out. You must complain to them as there is nothing i can do
Again, this is just I guess. I might be entirely wrong as I know nothing about your setup
15 April, 2016 at 8:05 pm #17412Thanks Olly, that makes sense. I completed a test order with the Cash on Delivery option and it is coming through instantly, so it’s definitely something with the Stripe gateway I’m using that’s causing the delay. Any ideas as to a way to receive those Stripe orders in the Order History page instantly, in order to fulfill those orders as soon as they come in, before they are actually fully processed by Stripe?
15 April, 2016 at 11:05 pm #17416it seems this is very recent problem with Stripe.
Stripe is (or at least was until a few days ago as far as i can tell) virtually instantaneous. However, I just get the same notice from someone else reporting the same problem.Allow me to contact Stripe to see what’s going on as generally Stripe is actually the best gateway to use in my opinionI will let you know as soon as I get some feedback from Stripethanks for your patience and letting me know15 April, 2016 at 11:18 pm #17417as it turns out , that ” someone else reporting the same problem” is actually another person from your company/coworker referring to the same server, so:
after a couple of tests here, this still works just fine and instantaneous
as a start, i would suggest /ask that you not only turn on debug but also check your mailservers (error) logonce you have done that , let me know if there’s anything in those logs that would help us
as it is just you with this problem, the issue will be elsewhere as I can assure you i would have heard about this many more times by now given the number of times that gateway is in use
let me know what you find in the logs
15 April, 2016 at 11:22 pm #17418PS: make sure you enable debug like so
https://www.wp-pizza.com/topic/how-to-enable-debug-in-wordpress/15 April, 2016 at 11:27 pm #17419Thanks Olly, I’ll give debugging a shot and will let you know.
I’ve got another question. Is there a way to set up an email template that either has the Subject line or actual email message be JUST the email address from the order form after a user placing an order? I’m trying to connect mailchimp with emails from orders using Zapier, and I need either the Subject or Message of the email to be JUST the email address, with nothing else, in order for Zapier to process the email correctly.
