Hi Olly
It would be so helpful to have any option to send a review order email to customers or at least an option to export the order history so we can use any other service .P:S I know that the email might go to spam but in my experience we are not going to lose anything if the email ended up in the spam box , I used to send a review email on previous system and customers used to respond very positivity .
I am so thankful for your very hard work
Michael19 October, 2015 at 1:05 pm #13270>to send a review order email to customers
what do you mean ?
if you allow them to enter their email, they get an email with the order details too ?!>so we can use any other service …
what other service ?
sorry i don’t understand what you are requesting here really19 October, 2015 at 2:55 pm #13293I will start with what I used to do.
At the end of the week I used to select all orders and change the states to review order at this time the customer will receive email, the Email includes the name, order number and at the bottom is a link to the review page on my website at that page there are all review sites icons (Yelp,Facebook and google) and also they still can leave a review on the same page .I used also service called https://kudobuzz.com/
I used to export order history as CSV and upload that file to my account on the above site and send bulk reviews emails .did you get me ?
19 October, 2015 at 3:25 pm #13296ok. i migth understand you (still not 100% sure)
either way, i don’t think i will ever add anything like that.
there are tons of review plugins out there and i’m not going to try to re-invent the wheel.
(it’s also way outside the scope of what wppizza is designed to do)19 October, 2015 at 3:32 pm #13297will it be possible to export the order history ? instead of going to each order to get the email address
19 October, 2015 at 6:16 pm #13301orders are assigned/linked to wordpress user id’s (if the user is registered)
so you just do a query on the wordpress user id’s (in the order table its the column wp_user_id)19 October, 2015 at 8:35 pm #13302what if the user is not registered ?
19 October, 2015 at 8:44 pm #13304then you should not be sending him any other emails than a copy of the order when it was made,
as he/she will not have opted in / agreed for you to do that in the first placesorry, but if you send emails to someone who did not agree to be contacted by you for anything other than the order itself, it’s spam. plain and simple.
26 October, 2015 at 11:01 am #13456First I apologise for my late reply
then you should not be sending him any other emails than a copy of the order when it was made,as he/she will not have opted in / agreed for you to do that in the first place.
I totally agree with you but if that is the case we can simply require a log in or do it as a automatic email following the order for users that made orders without logging in.
sorry, but if you send emails to someone who did not agree to be contacted by you for anything other than the order itself, it’s spam. plain and simple.
I mentioned above that my previous system was allowing me to send emails and I use to send emails asking for a review but they did not take it as spam , now I hear only complainants on review sites ( it’s simply people write bad reviews when they are not happy but they will never write a good review unless we ask )
I’m trying to find my way to do that anyway but just wanted you to know that this future is not outside the scope of what wppizza does and I’m very sure that if you add this feature in extensions everyone will buy it.
I hope you think about it .
Thank you again for your hard work
29 October, 2015 at 1:52 am #13536>…. we can simply require a log in …
i’m not stopping you , however, you might want o read these too
https://www.wp-pizza.com/topic/force-registration-before-ordering/
https://www.wp-pizza.com/topic/a-comment-about-registrations/>…they did not take it as spam…
you sure about that ?! i get that kind of stuff too, and all I do is trash/delete/junk it and certainly don’t waste my time replying saying “i don’t like it, leave me alone” or some such thing>….this future is not outside the scope of what wppizza does….
err, yes it is, because i am the one who determines what the scope of it is , lol 🙂
(or perhaps we just have a different understanding of what the “scope of things” means, but let’s not split hairs)that aside, even if i wanted to add this functionality it will be ages – if ever – before i can even think about doing this as there are plenty of other things i would want to add first. (though i will actually put it into my “box of ideas” – one never knows )
of course, that’s not to say that i would have any issues for someone to write something that would add this functionality (i would think the codesnippets section offers plenty of hooks/ideas/examples to base this kind of extension on).
in fact, i am more than happy to see people writing their own plugins to extend the functionality of wppizza as i cannot possibly cater for absolutely all scenarios people might want to use the plugin for (only 24 hours in a day etc etc ).
i think that’s it from me on the subject for now …..always happy to hear suggestions
